Salesforce Contractors: The Future of Hiring?

In uncertain times, it’s key to have low-risk partnerships that you can count on. Hireforce is a specialized service provider partnering with Salesforce Customers, Salesforce Implementation Partners, and Salesforce ISVs that have a need to hire Salesforce professionals on a contract, contract-to-hire, or permanent basis.

As we continue to navigate uncharted waters of the pandemic, companies continue to put their direct hire searches on hold. However, many clients are hiring contractors to continue their Salesforce projects over the course of the next few months. Adding contractors to your team is a low-risk option, allowing you to make progress on Salesforce projects and initiatives without the risk or cost of hiring a permanent employee.

Hiring contractors isn’t new to companies, rather a well-kept secret for many. According to CNBC, “Google, Facebook, Amazon, Uber...employ thousands of contract workers to do a host of functions — anything from sales and writing code to managing teams and testing products.” In fact, as of 2018 contract workers outnumbered direct employees at Google for the first time in the company’s 20-year history. (Sheng, 2018).

Benefits of Utilizing Contractors:

●      Hireforce’s contractors are thoroughly vetted Salesforce professionals who are experienced and comfortable working on a project basis and aim to make an impact as quickly as possible.

●      Contractors do not need the extensive onboarding that a permanent hire requires, as they are used to getting ramped up quickly and can start remote or on-site.

●      Contractors help to keep official headcount low and, because contract workers do not require the same benefits as a fulltime employee, such as healthcare benefits or 401(k) matching, this can help companies free up millions to utilize elsewhere to grow the business.

●      Contractors are a financially low-risk option, as the client is only charged for the approved hours a contractor has worked, as well as the client is able to reduce or increase hours as needed. Furthermore, a contract can be terminated immediately, at any point in time, giving flexibility for unforeseen circumstances, budget cuts, etc.

●      If the contractor turns out to be a great long-term fit for your organization, and you would like to hire them as a full-time employee, you may do so at any point throughout the project.

Let’s get to know Francesca a little more –

Q: What’s the best part of your job/Hireforce?

A: Easy - The people! We have a tight-knit group of people here and we work really well together. Our culture is one of a kind and we know how to work hard but have fun at the same time!

Q: What’s the best way you start the day?

A: Some good tunes and a cup of tea.

Q: What do you wish you knew more about?

A: 2 things –

1st one: I would love to learn more about CPQ. More and more clients are starting to require CPQ experience and it would be awesome to know more about it on a technical level.

2nd:- How to keep my plants alive.

Q: Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

A: We went on a company trip to New Orleans during Mardi Gras earlier this year (yet another reason I love Hireforce) and it was quite the adventure! We stayed in the heart of the French Quarter, ate endless amounts of beignets and enjoyed some of the most incredible southern foods. There was entertainment on every corner and literally never a dull moment.

Q: What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this shelter-in-place?

A: Getting creative with my meals and cooking things I normally wouldn’t cook! Next up: Baking. Anyone have any tips? I tend to burn everything I attempt to bake.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Salesforce?

A: The community. They are all so supportive to one another and eager to learn new information. It is honestly so fun to work with such enthusiastic, collaborative and intelligent people.

Q: What’s your favorite Appexchange?

A: Studentforce on Education Cloud. My pal, Ed Schlesinger, introduced me to these! Studentforce helps drive success by giving students access to all their education accomplishments. It reinforces time management skills and gives students the tools they need to track and monitor their assignments, grades, classes and much more.  Education is something that I will always be passionate about - I initially went to college to become a School Counselor. Studentforce would have been a great one stop shop for my students if I were still in the field! Ed recently started an awesome new project for Elements.  Cloud for Education and I am so excited to learn more from him.

Q: What is your favorite Salesforce blog or MVP?

A: Joanna Iturbe. Joanna is an 3x MVP and a Denver community group leader who I look up to. She is passionate about education and has so much drive to learn and teach others.

Q: Favorite trailhead character?

A: Blaze! When I first learned about all the characters, Blaze was someone I could relate to the most. She is known to be faithful, trustworthy and a great team player. She is also quite the social butterfly and is always busy cheering on all her talented friends :)

Get to know Hireforce! Meet Austin Sherman, Senior Consultant

Austin joined Hireforce in January 2019 as a Consultant and was promoted to Senior Consultant earlier this year!  Since joining, he has always set large goals for himself and sees to it that they are achieved. Austin has become a huge asset to the Permanent team and constantly shows his dedication to his team and to the Salesforce community.  Austin has represented Hireforce at Snowforce two years in a row and has attended several Salesforce meetups in Utah and Hawaii.

Let’s get to know Austin a little more –

Q: What’s the best part of your job/Hireforce?

A: That I get to work with an amazing team here at Hireforce! I also love the opportunity to help many people in the Salesforce ecosystem learn more about opportunities that can advance or help their careers.

Q: What’s the best way you start the day?

A: I try to get some exercise in before I start my day so that I can have some energy going into the day.

Q: What do you wish you knew more about?

A: I wish I knew more about Salesforce and that’s why I’m doing all I can to learn on Trailhead and eventually become Salesforce Admin Certified by the summer.

Q: Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?

A: I was able to go to New Orleans with my Hireforce team during Mardi Gras and I think that’s got to be the most interesting and unique place I’ve been to and attended. There is seriously nothing like it!

Q: What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this shelter-in-place?

A: I’ve actually been trying to go out and be outside as much as I can with my wife and daughter to get some exercise and be in the great outdoors. I live in Utah so there are a lot of places to go and things to do while allowing yourself to social distance yourself from other people.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Salesforce?

A: I just love the Salesforce community and the people that are a part of it. There is something different about it that stands out from the rest of the IT industry overall. The people are so great and dedicated to what they do on the platform. I rarely have “bad” phone calls and conversations with people, even when I am cold calling. Everyone is just so genuine.

Q: What’s your favorite cloud?

A: I’m not sure if I have a favorite Cloud but if I were to have a favorite, it would probably be Sales since it’s the most widely used.

Q: What is your favorite Salesforce blog or MVP?

A: My favorite Salesforce blog is actually a newer blog (https://kellystrauch.com/) by a person that I helped get a job through Hireforce back in November 2019. Her name is Kelly Strauch and although the position didn’t turn out to be a fit in the long run, we have stayed in touch. She recently started a Salesforce blog that is absolutely fantastic! She loves Lightning Web Components and is advancing her knowledge in it and the best way to learn is to share, and that’s exactly what she is doing through her blog. She has also shared about the ups and downs over the last few months about COVID-19 and her job situation and it is really neat to see her story and how she has stayed strong and positive through it all. She’s such a great example and pillar in the Salesforce community!

Q: Favorite trailhead character?

A: Codey the Bear for sure!  I have a real life Codey the Bear in my office that I won at Snowforce 2019.
